Luxury Sri Lanka Holidays
Compact yet breathtaking, Sri Lanka packs an extraordinary range into a single island — UNESCO World Heritage cities, misty tea country, elephant-dotted national parks, golden beaches and some of the finest Buddhist temple art in Asia. The Sigiriya Rock Fortress rises from the jungle like a myth made real, while the ancient city of Polonnaruwa reveals an entire medieval civilisation in stone. Kandy's Temple of the Tooth commands a hilltop over a sacred lake, and the south coast delivers pristine turquoise bays where sea turtles nest.
Our tours traverse the Cultural Triangle, tea highlands, wildlife reserves and the coast — covering everything from elephant safaris in Yala National Park to whale watching at Mirissa. Sri Lanka rewards slow travel and quick visits alike.

From mist-covered mountains to turquoise island waters — explore Sri Lanka's most breathtaking destinations by region.
🏰 Cultural Triangle — Ancient Cities & Rock Fortresses. The heart of Sri Lanka's heritage, this UNESCO-rich triangle connects three of the island's greatest ancient capitals. Sigiriya's lion rock fortress soars above the jungle — a fifth-century palace complex that counts among the world's great archaeological wonders. Dambulla's cave temple complex glitters with centuries of Buddhist murals and gilded statues. Polonnaruwa reveals an entire medieval capital preserved in stone, and Anuradhapura holds some of the oldest Buddhist monuments on earth, including the Sri Maha Bodhi — a sacred fig tree grown from a cutting of the very tree under which the Buddha attained enlightenment.
🌿 Hill Country — Tea Estates, Waterfalls & Scenic Train Rides. Sri Lanka's central highlands are draped in endless emerald tea plantations, misty waterfalls and dramatic escarpments. Kandy, the cultural capital, is home to the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic. Nuwara Eliya — known as "Little England" — sits at 1,868 metres surrounded by colonial bungalows and manicured tea estates. The Ella–Nuwara Eliya train journey is routinely voted one of the most scenic rail rides in the world, crossing the famous Nine Arch Bridge through cloud-drenched mountains. Ella itself is a small hill town with big views — Ella Rock and Little Adam's Peak are accessible hikes rewarding with unforgettable sunrise panoramas.
🌊 South Coast — Dutch Forts, Beaches & Whale Watching. Sri Lanka's south coast is one of Asia's finest stretches of coastline — a 200 km arc of golden beaches, coral reefs, colonial-era Dutch forts and colonial towns. Galle Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site where centuries-old Dutch ramparts wrap around cobblestone lanes lined with boutique hotels and art galleries. Mirissa is Sri Lanka's premier whale-watching spot — blue whales and sperm whales pass through between November and April. Unawatuna, Weligama and Tangalle offer laid-back beach life, while Hikkaduwa draws divers to its reef.
🐘 Wildlife — Elephants, Leopards & Blue Whales. Sri Lanka punches well above its size in wildlife. Yala National Park holds one of the world's highest densities of leopards alongside elephants, sloth bears, crocodiles and hundreds of bird species. Udawalawe is the best park for guaranteed elephant sightings — herds of 50 to 100 are common. Minneriya in the dry season hosts the "Gathering" — hundreds of wild elephants converging on the reservoir in one of Asia's greatest wildlife spectacles. Off the south coast, Mirissa offers boat excursions to see blue whales and dolphins in the open ocean.
🕌 North & East — Jaffna, Trincomalee & Arugam Bay. Sri Lanka's north and east are emerging travel frontiers — less visited, more raw, and richly rewarding. Jaffna in the far north holds one of South Asia's most important Hindu temples, Nainativu Island, and a distinct Tamil cultural identity. Trincomalee on the east coast is one of the world's finest natural harbours, with Nilaveli's powder-white beaches and Pigeon Island's intact coral reef for snorkelling. Arugam Bay in the southeast is a world-class surf break and a base for safaris to Kumana National Park — a paradise for wading birds and elephants.
Travel experts weigh in — here's our honest guide to the best time to visit Sri Lanka.
Shoulder Season Best Value
December to March is the dry season on the west and south coasts — ideal for beach holidays, whale watching at Mirissa, and cultural sites. July to September brings dry weather to the east coast and Cultural Triangle. Both windows offer clear skies, manageable crowds and the full Sri Lanka experience.
High Demand Periods
Christmas and New Year is the busiest period — hotels sell out months in advance and prices peak. Poya full-moon holidays throughout the year also see domestic travel surges. Book at least 4–6 months ahead to secure the best properties and avoid disappointment.
Weather Warning
Sri Lanka has two monsoon seasons affecting different coasts. The southwest monsoon (May–July) brings heavy rain to the west and south. The northeast monsoon (October–January) affects the north and east. Outdoor sightseeing and beach time become difficult. We'd rather tell you honestly than take your booking.
